Jayalakshmi Sarikonda was born on the 19th of August 1994 in Chandrapur of Maharashtra, India. Ever since 2008, she has been taking part in numerous international archery competitions around the world and has achieved major success. As a former rifle shooter, she has developed an interest towards archery when she was 11 years old. Pretty soon, she decided to make it her career and hasn’t looked back ever since then. She considers her father as her main source of inspiration in life.
She was a member of the bronze winning team that attended the Utah world archery championships that was held in 2009 and the one held in Wuxi, China in 2013. She has also won the Shiv Chatrapati Award that was given to her for 2011-12 by the Government of Maharastra. The award is offered only to the most prestigious sports persons.
